Williann: From Alsace to the Walls of the World

Self‑taught artist from Alsace, Williann has been drawing for as long as she could hold a pencil.

For decades, her work has centered on feminine figures—refined over time to become stronger, more independent, more uplifting. These women are often accompanied by delightfully eccentric animals, creating vibrant compositions brimming with tiny details for viewers of all ages to discover. Her pieces frequently convey meaningful messages such as feminism and resilience.

Williann draws on a variety of themes and influences: 1950s pin‑ups, 1920s black‑and‑white cartoons, Delft Blue ceramics, stained glass, vintage advertising, and the art of Kintsugi.

She insists on having fun (“just for kicks”) when creating an illustration. Through the web and large‑scale murals, she shares that joy and those bold colors with as many people as possible, bringing brightness to an increasingly grim, sanitized world.

A muralist for nearly ten years, Williann continues to wander the globe, painting her universe on walls from France to the Netherlands, Croatia to Cambodia, Ireland to Scotland, Réunion Island to Georgia, Germany to Benin and Luxembourg… every new destination is a source of immense inspiration. Next up: Switzerland, Estonia, Finland and Portugal!
