Kelu Abstract : the art of stenciling

Kelu Abstract defines himself as an urban artist. Born in Lille (France) in 1982, he still lives and works there. With a rock personnality, engaged, generous, and demanding, his portraits reflect his character.

Kelu Abstract began his urban art journey in 2017, initially using acrylic-painted portraits and brushwork in his collages. Later, his style evolved to include stencils, replacing the posters of his early career with spray-painted works on the walls.

In 2020, he left his career as a specialized educator to fully dedicate himself to his artistic project.

The faces presented by Kelu Abstract are always striking, provoking an emotional response from the viewer, without necessarily dictating a specific message. His approach aims to create intense eye contact between his androgynous painted characters and the audience, with the impact of the gaze being fundamental to his works.

His studio work on canvas or other surfaces revolves around a correlation between the background, created with various media (paint, chalks, spray paint, pencils, markers, collages, etc.), and the stenciled figure.

Kelu Abstract continues to experiment with new techniques, constantly pushing the limits of his art.
